About · Working across borders

One independent Singapore practice, working with firms worldwide.

Most of Medora's clients are foreign-owned, so most of its work has a counterpart abroad: a group auditor, a parent's tax adviser, a lawyer in the jurisdiction where the assets sit. The practice works with whichever firm the group already uses, from the Big 4 to independent local practices, and holds memberships of two international associations, DFK International and LEA Global, for the cases where a counterpart still has to be found.

How it works / 01

How cross-border work runs.

Component audits with any group auditor

The most frequent cross-border work in this practice is group audit work. Medora audits Singapore entities within international groups and reports to the parent's auditors under their group instructions, including reporting packs for parents in the UK, US, EU, Japan, and Korea. The group auditor may be one of the Big 4, a national firm, or an association member; the instructions are read the same way, questions are answered by people senior enough to commit the firm, and the timetable is treated as a shared obligation. The detail sits with the firm's audit and assurance practice.

Referrals in both directions

When a client needs an adviser in another jurisdiction, for a subsidiary audit, a local tax filing, or a transaction, the first call is to a firm Medora has worked with before. Where there is none, the two association directories give the practice a vetted counterpart in most countries. The traffic runs the other way too: firms abroad with a client expanding into Singapore refer to Medora, which is how much of the foreign-owned client base arrived. Tax questions that cross borders, treaty positions, transfer pricing, and withholding obligations are worked with the firm's tax advisory practice and the adviser on the other side of the flow.

Technical exchange

Working across borders keeps a mid-tier Singapore firm inside international technical conversations: audit methodology, quality management standards, and the reporting expectations of regulators elsewhere. Medora's people run audit update webinars for firms in both associations, and the practice draws on counterparts abroad when a client's question turns on another country's rules.

The memberships / 02

Two associations among the relationships.

DFK International and LEA Global are associations of independent accounting firms. Member firms remain separately owned and locally accountable; each association provides working relationships, technical exchange, and referral channels between them. Medora is, and remains, an independent Singapore practice of ACRA-registered public accountants. The memberships extend its reach; they do not dilute its accountability, and they are not the only route by which the practice reaches a counterpart abroad.

DFK International connects more than 200 member firms across over 430 offices in over 85 countries; its member directory is published at dfk.com. LEA Global brings together more than 140 member firms and over 20,000 professionals; its directory is at leaglobal.com. Holding both means a cross-border question rarely goes unanswered for want of a counterpart, and clients have a choice of adviser in most jurisdictions.

Membership of an association is not a licence and not a regulatory status. Medora's standing in Singapore rests on its ACRA registration and the credentials of its people. Each member firm answers for its own work; Medora's opinions are Medora's.
